current work

My new series of large oil paintings (I'm currently calling the series Polka-Dots for obvious reasons) is painted on printed canvas so that the pattern of the fabric becomes a factor, a player, in the painting overall.  Sometimes it's in the background, sometimes the foreground, sometimes it provides depth, and other times it flattens the space.  I'm having such fun with this.

Currently the painting on the left above, Polka Dots #1, is living in my front hall, having come home from the show Food for Thought at NoKa's Upstairs Gallery in Katonah, NY, and the painting above right, Polka Dots #2, is in my bedroom hallway since the Stillman Gallery summer show at Lyme Academy in Old Lyme, CT. It was the poster child for the show on the school's website: www.lymeacademy.edu, and I was proud.

Polka Dot Number Three is set in Venice.  Where I have never been.
Obviously.
